I guess we're the same in the fact that we're all monsters. Suddenly losing someone important to you. Not being able to trust anyone and not knowing what's going on...It's scary, isn't it? That's why you're purposely shutting others out...Right?

Favoring Eyes
Ayano has the ability of Favoring Eyes. When activating this ability, her eyes turn bright red, and she gains the ability to directly influence other characters' minds and thoughts––she does this in two ways.
• Ayano can Project Thoughts and Feelings onto other characters. This means that she can project a feeling of happiness onto someone who is sad, feelings of being relaxed to someone who is stressed, and vice versa.
• Ayano can also Project Memories onto other characters. This means anything that Ayano has seen or experienced can be directly relayed into another person's consciousness. This gives the other person the impression of having been there to see the memory taking place.

These abilities can be used against other characters' will but I will not do that without expressed permission by the player beforehand, which I will typically ask for beforehand. However, if you agree to have Ayano influence your character in one or both of these two ways, please fill out the permissions form in a comment below! I will typically still ask before hand, but filling out the form will give me a general idea of who it is or isn't okay to steer threads towards using her abilities. Thanks!

CHARACTER: CANON SECTION
NAME: Ayano Tateyama
AGE: 15 physically, 18 mentally.
CANON: Kagerou Project

CANON HISTORY: Canon history here!

CANON PERSONALITY: Ayano is characterized first and foremost by the trait of immense kindness. Always shown to be a loving, forgiving person, Ayano tries to see the best in people and bring others closer together. In her first meeting with her friend Takane, Ayano makes sure to let her know that despite coming off as rude, Shintaro is actually a good guy, and apologizes profusely on his behalf. Her relationship with the prickly and distant Shintaro works because of her patience and kindness--she’s able to give him a loving, gentle push into friendship that many others were not capable of. Forging a fast friendship with Haruka and Takane, Ayano is able to use her kindness and perky attitude to bring the four of them closer together. She cares deeply about those close to her, and is very serious about the happiness of her friends. Ayano is even willing to be a little strict when it comes to how her friends are behaving, like when she chastises Takane for not being honest about her feelings toward Haruka. If it’s for the good of everyone, she will raise her voice if she has to.

As a child, Ayano was obsessed with pure-hearted heroes as a child, donning a red scarf for most of her life because “red is the color of heroes.” The heroism of those she would see on television or in books inspired her to live like them--always kind, respectful, and brave. When her family adopts three orphaned siblings, she is able to help them and take care of them by inspiring them with the kind of compassion and leadership she always sees in the heroes she admires. It isn’t all positive, though--as this attitude tends to cause her to carry the burden of her pain and sadness behind a smile. When Ayano begins investigating her Father, she keeps the truth of her fear, sadness, and anxiety to herself, save for her brother Kano, whom she had no choice but to let in on the secret. Ayano is the type to silently suffer so as not to worry or impose on others. Her dearest friend Shintaro, and even her other siblings are given no indication of her intention to kill herself in order to keep her Father’s evil plan from coming to fruition. Yes, Ayano’s kind, heroic tendencies lead her to sacrifice herself for the greater good of her friends and family--never sparing a second thought to consider the pain it would cause herself.

Losing her Mother at a young age, Ayano’s Father became very depressed and buried himself in his work and clandestine research, leaving Ayano to take care of her siblings. Thus, Ayano grew up to be a very responsible, almost motherly young woman. She took care of cooking and cleaning, developing a very warm personality that elicited feelings of comfort in those who would spend time with her. Emotionally, she matured rather quickly, tending to be able to keep her emotions cool even when dealing with serious matters like the mystery of her Father’s research. When Haruka stays overnight to work on a project, she offers to cook him a meal--and when her sibling starts playing pranks on him, she scolds the boy just as a Mother would.

When she’s not mothering her siblings or playing hero, Ayano is a fairly normal high-school girl, if not a little extra sweet. She’s been known to be a bit air-headed, tending to space out and lose focus on things that aren’t particularly interesting to her--most notably, school work. It’s her trouble in school and bad grades that lead to her seeking help from Shintaro, and later, Haruka, who both find her inability to complete simple exercises rather astounding. Practically, she’s a smart girl who can get to the bottom of mysteries and help her friends, but when it comes to being book-smart, she has a lot to be desired. Ayano often ends up in extra summer classes. Simplistic in her wants and needs, she only strongly desires to spend time with the people she loves--and this becomes clear when her world starts falling apart as she desperately tries to find ways to keep everyone together. Even if Ayano has to forgo her own happiness, making sure the people important to her have a good life will take priority.

SKILLS/ABILITIES: Ayano has the ability of “Favoring Eyes” which, when making eye contact with someone, she is able to project into them feelings, thoughts, or memories. Typically more of a “nudge” than flat-out mind control, she can impart feelings of happiness in someone who is sad, or project a hazy, important memory onto someone else. In Canon, she uses this ability to show another character the story of someone’s past--sending the memories from her mind to someone else’s. It’s kind of like playing a tape in their head, which she can stop at any point. Utilizing this ability causes her eyes to turn red, an effect that she can create at will whether using the favoring eyes or not. However, they will always be red when using the ability.
CHARACTER: AU SECTION
AU NAME: Ayano Tateyama
AU AGE: 18
PHYSICAL DIFFERENCES: She's the same, save for her eyes not being able to turn red of course.

AU HISTORY:

- 1993: Ayano’s parents are semi-famous, rich scientists who met while working on a project in Recolle. Her Mother previously did research in Japan, while her Father worked in Italy. They decided to start a new life in Recolle after a number of years!
- June 1st, 1999: Several years after getting married, they are blessed with a daughter, Ayano!
- September 26th, 2003: While on a romantic getaway, her parents are caught in a deadly rock slide...but miraculously, survive! No dead parents for this gal! Because of the near-death experience, her parents become extraordinarily soft, loving, and protective of Ayano. Excessively so.

“Ayano, we love you so much and will never, ever, take you for granted…”

- September 31st, 2003: When getting told the story, Ayano becomes enamored with the tale of the rescue workers from the accident. A fascination with heroics begins!
- 2003-Present: Ayano spends the rest of her life getting spoiled by her parents in every way possible. She gets almost anything she wants, and tons of stuff she doesn’t even need to ask for.
- 2005: Becomes obsessed with television and comic book heroes at a young age, often acting like them.

“I am Captain Crusader! Savior of New York City! Fear my boomerang of magic!”
“Ayano, it’s time for bed, sweetie…”
“CAPTAIN CRUSADER NEVER SLEEPS!”

- 2007: ...And then discovers professional wrestling, where the heroes are “real” and she can go see them and meet them. Her parents have, to date, spent over $10,000 on wrestling tickets and meet and greets for this girl.
- 2007-Present: Because her parents make her life so easy, Ayano tends to be pretty lazy and does terribly in school. She has a real problem concentrating on things that aren’t wrestling or some other “rot your brain” type of entertainment. Yeah, she’s a couch potato.
- 2008-Present: Ayano starts to grow into kind of a strange girl, and has trouble making friends in school. Her sheltered life leaves her rather emotional, leading her to have the occasional outburst. Not only that, but she assumes that most people will be happy to talk to her, leading to her constantly embarrassing herself in school when she finds out, in fact, the boy sitting next to her did NOT want to hear her opinion on the latest superhero film. Nobody really understands what she’s saying, either, because she always speaks in wrestling-lingo. She tries her best to stand up to bullies, but no one really takes her seriously.

“No, I swear, John Cena could TOTALLY defeat the Undertaker in the Hell in a Cell. You agree, don’t you?
“...I have no idea what you’re talking about, Ayano.”
“Do you agree or not!?”

- December 21st, 2008: Ayano becomes VERY sick and even has a brief brush with death. A very famous wrestler comes to see her at the hospital. The words that he says inspires her to fight on and to always live as a good person who helps others. A true hero! Not only this, but the illness prompted her parents to become even more protective of her than before.

“I’m gonna get better, Daddy...I will never give up! Never, ever…”

- March, 2009: Due to recent events, Ayano’s parents decide to take her to live in Italy for a few months while she recovers from the trauma that came along with being ill. Ayano takes all of this in stride, and begins to feel a bit invincible thanks to her interaction with the wrestler in the hospital and the return of her strength. Becoming brazen and bombastic, she commands the attention of the local children with a new form of bizarre charisma that follows her forward.

“You know, Mom, the wrestlers get to travel all over the world doing shows...The water here is really beautiful. Maybe when I’m famous, I can come back here, right? I’ll come back and show everyone what a big deal I am...”
“You’re already a big deal, darling.”
“Oooh, you’re right! No wonder everyone loves me!”

- September, 2009: She finds one close friend that also likes wrestling, and eventually, gains a crush on him. Ayano spends the next few years barely skating by in school, yelling at the top of her lungs, crying about misplacing a DVD, and other such tween problems. All in all, a pretty normal life save for her loud and lazy attitude.

“MOM, YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND, IT WAS LIMITED EDITION!”

- May, 2014: Now in high school, Ayano hasn’t matured quite as much as the rest of her peers, but she doesn’t necessarily mind. The amount of friends she has, or even, people who are actually interested in talking to her, has shrunk to less than a handful as her eccentricities have continued to progress. Nonetheless, she’s a happy girl despite her falling grades. It’s around this time that she asks out her best friend proper, after years of daydreaming about it. He says yes!

“Do you think, um, if I were...um...You’d want to be like, my...tag team partner? N-no, that’s stupid, I just...I really like you, and I want to...be with you? I want to...hold hands with you. Will you...will you hold my hand!?”

- November 22nd, 2014: Things are great, but slowly over time, her boyfriend becomes more and more distant, eventually taking her to a bench in the park to break up with her. She doesn’t take it well, but the friendship manages to survive, despite the fact that he doesn’t like wrestling anymore. Secretly, she still pines for him, but doesn’t have much hope.

“Oh. So, you just, don’t...like me, anymore? I...What did I do? I’m sorry, I’m sorry, what did I do wrong?”

- December 15th, 2014: Ayano starts to develop a feeling of loneliness that she didn’t have prior. No longer surrounded by bratty kids, she sticks out like a sore thumb and begins to feel like she doesn’t belong at all. She starts wishing that some guy will sweep her off her feet and make her feel the way that her first boyfriend did--it doesn’t happen. Suddenly, she finds herself putting on a brave face during these sour feelings. She has no problem crying openly about a stubbed toe or spilled milk, but when it comes to serious matters, she notices herself becoming more insular.
- March, 2015: Ayano continues to be unable to focus in school, and feels awkward asking for help from her ex, who would typically bail her out of trouble. She starts getting put in detention for falling asleep in class and not doing her homework.

“No, I did my homework! I...just lost it? Okay, okay, I’ll go to detention today but I swear, this is probably the last time! ...This Month…”

- May, 2017: Ayano then goes on to flunk her senior year of high school and isn’t able to graduate alongside her best friend--and now has to repeat it and try to make new friends. Feeling ostracized for her failure, she has a bit of a breakdown, but holding fast to the words of the wrestler back in the hospital, she tries not to let herself change too much.

“I uh...got some stuff. To tell you. ...Not weird stuff! Just like, news, stuff, interesting stuff, I guess…”
“Huh? Interesting as in…?”
“I uh...I’mnotgonnagraduatebecauseimbeingheldback! ….Ahahaha, oops…”
“So you’re...Jeez. Did something happen? Are you okay?”

June, 2017: Her parents start to feel like they failed her by not sending her to a special artsy school because she just can’t seem to handle high school, and the feeling of letting her parents down has given her a feeling of pain that is unusual to her. Maybe she DOES need to grow up, she starts to wonder.

“I knew...I knew you didn’t belong in a school like that. Ayano, I’m so sorry, you should’ve been in an environment you could be more comfortable in and thrive in…”
“Daddy, no, it’s not your fault…”

- July, 2017:...So, what is a girl to do but take a trip to Japan over the summer to find herself? Ayano traveled by herself to her Mother’s homeland, seeking a spiritual awakening and coming-of-age moment. Nothing of the sort happened, though. While she had fun, she didn’t meet anyone or have any great moments of clarity. Returning to Recolle, she finds herself as listless as ever as she approaches the new school year.

“Senior year, take two, here we frigging go! I GUESS.”

AU PERSONALITY: The key difference between Ayano and her canon incarnation is her parental situation, and it is what ultimately most majorly shapes both lives. Instead of losing her Mother and having this great need to start growing up way too fast, Ayano has both parents constantly hovering over her, getting her anything she needs. Thus, rather than becoming a responsible, motherly person who can cook and take care of herself, she’s kind of a lazy bum. She doesn’t do chores, and her parents love her enough to not scold her for it either--most of the time, anyway. Ayano still does poorly in school, but in this incarnation it’s more due to a lack of drive and hard work that leaves her flunking--not an innate inability or difficult emotional distractions. There’s a lot of energy inside of her, but it can only surface in the wake of things that she’s passionate about. Taking out the garbage, not so much.

Her composure has certainly taken a hit because of the change in the way she was raised, as well. Instead of maturing to the point where she’s able to keep her emotions in check and deal with things in an adult-like manner--this Ayano is a total child. Despite being 18, she still throws temper tantrums when she’s especially upset, or cries excessively over the smallest things. She tends to have large emotional outbursts and often can’t control the volume of her voice. Happy, excited, sad, or angry, she’s probably yelling. She doesn’t have much of an inside voice.

Not having to live her life suspecting her Father of various evil plots, Ayano has a lot more time to be normal, and her cushy life has left her very soft. She’s a romantic, and jumped at the chance to date her best friend whom she had spent years admiring from afar. Being used to receiving lots of love and affection from her family, her boyfriend wasn’t quite the same. Ayano was always wanting more in the relationship, while he didn’t, leading to their eventually break. Ayano is constantly looking for love and companionship with optimism, though rarely succeeding, and definitely remains too emotionally fragile and distraught to get over her ex.
Where Ayano’s canon self is more gentle and quiet, shown by the times when she softly apologizes for Shintaro and tries not to get in the way, this Ayano is much louder and has less of a filter. As much as she wants friends, she doesn’t really pay mind to how people see her, so she chats it up with just about anyone willing to listen--and if you’re mean to her, she’s definitely going to have a bone to pick. Even if it’s in public, she will yap at you and she will yap hard. That isn’t to say there aren’t many situations where she won’t have confidence, get shy, or embarrassed, but she certainly has a tendency to be more bombastic in everyday situations.

Ayano shares the same love of heroes, though in this universe rather than an obsession with sentai-type heroes, she’s interested in wrestling, often speaking the lingo so much that people have trouble understanding her. Whereas Ayano’s canon self got distracted by real-life struggles, this Ayano is able to get much more obsessive over things and dive headfirst into fandom. Even when she had a life threatening illness, Ayano found more respite in fantasy than the real world. The one thing that carries over is she still tries to live every day like a hero--someone kind who can be depended on. Ayano is always reaching out to those she feels are down or need help. Ayano will never outright be mean to someone unless she feels they deserve it. At her core, Ayano is still an enormously kind person with an enormous heart to match.

On the other end of the spectrum, when it comes to sadness, Ayano isn’t as strong as her canon self. She tries her best to hide her pain behind a smile, but more often than not, she loses her composure and starts bawling. She hasn’t known much suffering, so she doesn’t deal well with it. Interestingly, it’s the smaller problems that lead to her being more vocal and visual with her sadness. The stuff she isn’t afraid of anyone knowing. When something truly awful has happened to her, she’d rather stand silent with quivering knees and lips, and keep the emotional breakdown to herself or those closest to her. Either way, she’s not going to handle it in the healthiest or most mature manner.

This Ayano isn’t goal oriented at all, especially considering she doesn’t see happiness as something that’s fleeting or something to focus on. She toys around with the idea of becoming a wrestler but feels like she’s too lazy to actually do anything about it because she doesn’t have the body for it. She finds herself living in fantasy land most of the time. When it comes to reality, Ayano doesn’t know what she’s doing or what she should be doing. The fact that she has to repeat a year of high school was almost a relief to her, as she gets to hide from the real world yet ago. It’s one of the few things that makes her feel legitimately depressed. The older she get, the more she seems to struggle with the fact that there isn’t anything in her life to make her feel grand the way that the people on TV do. Sometimes she finds herself wishing for the kind of struggles her canon self actually dealt with, just to have something to break her out of her routine of childishness and lethargy. But then, that would be a pain too, wouldn’t it?
